Annamacharya Institute of Technology & Sciences, Hyderabad-National Service Scheme (AITSH-NSS) unit cell organized Bathukamma Celebrations in college premises on 13 th October, 2023.
Bathukamma is floral festival celebrated predominantly in Telangana and some parts of Andhra Pradesh. Every year this festival is celebrated as per Sathavahana calendar for nine days starting Mahalaya Amavasya (also knownas Mahalaya Amavasya or Pitru Amavasya) till Durgashtami, usually in September–October. It is celebrated for nine days during Durga Navratri. It starts on the day of Mahalaya Amavasya and the 9-day festivities will culminate on "Saddula Bathukamma" or "Pedda Bathukamma" festival on Ashwayuja Navami, popularly known as Durgashtami which is two days before Dussehra.This colorful floral festival of Telangana that symbolizes cultue and identity has been celebrated in our college with grandeur and enthusiasm admist the lush green nature in the campus on 13th October. The women staff and the girl students emblazoned the premises with beautiful exotic flowers. The celebration manifested the eminence of nature, united spirit of the Annamacharya Family and the audacious fervor of the women staff and girls.
AITS Group Executive Director Sri C. Abhishek Reddy joined the event as the Chief Guest. College Principal Dr. P.V Krishna Murthy, Administration officers A. Anjaneyulu, M. Subramanyam Reddy, NSS Programme Coordinator Dr. K. Sunder Kumar and all Department HODs participated in the programme.
